The day in general October can be hit and miss with the weather, but this years Winer League kick off matches had the perfect day, slightly cold to start but warming up perfectly, some tricky wind with the odd gust to catch you out, bit overall a great day weather wise. AM Matches. This is always a busy day with getting in 3 matches, starting with the Short range and UCM. The short range match is always a good way to start, 2 sighters at 300 and then move forwards to 100, its a great 5 practice match designed to test all positions and always a great opener for the season. The UCM match is probably a favourite for all, gets the heart pumping and takes just a few minutes to run through all 4 practices, again, designed to test stamina and positional shooting as well as keeping you thinking about the practice, safety and running through Chesil beach!! This year the match was pre squadded to stop a bottle neck with everyone wanting to shoot lanes 1 or 7, it worked well and was extremely efficient, wobby posts and all. PM Match. The Whitehead match is another great match, every shooting detail runs their whole 4 practice match back to back, take all your ammo and go. Starting at 300 on a 10 rnd prone practice, no sighters and no spotters, make safe, then flash to move to 200 standing to kneeling for 10 snaps, make safe and move to sitting, 10 rnds, make safe, flash and move to 100 for 5x dbl exposures standing and kneeling. Its a challenging and quick match, with two run downs and plenty of variation. Scores are consolidated from the 300 practice on a figure 11, a figure 12 at 200 and a figure 12c at 100.
